AIM Robotics Qualifies for Stream 1 of Canada's Defence Drone Initiative
AIM Robotics, parent company of RPAS WILCO, has qualified under Stream 1 of the Government of Canada's Defence Drone Initiative Marketplace — joining the pool of Canadian qualified suppliers for uncrewed and autonomous systems.
WATERLOO, ONTARIO — AIM Robotics has qualified under Stream 1 of the Government of Canada’s Defence Drone Initiative Marketplace, marking an important step in our work to support Canada’s evolving defence, public safety, and low-altitude airspace needs.
What the Defence Drone Initiative is
The Defence Drone Initiative was launched to accelerate the development, testing, adaptation, and production of uncrewed and autonomous systems for the Canadian Armed Forces and the Canadian Coast Guard. The program is led collaboratively by the Department of National Defence and the Defence Investment Agency, with a focus on connecting operational requirements with Canadian innovation.
Through the Request for Supply Arrangement process, the DDI Marketplace establishes a pool of Canadian qualified suppliers across areas that include:
- Uncrewed and autonomous systems
- Counter-UxS capabilities
- Communications and data systems
- Engineering and integration services
- Testing, training, innovation, and experimentation activities
For us, this qualification is not simply about entering a procurement process. It reflects a larger shift happening across Canada’s defence and security landscape.
The airspace below 400 feet has changed
The airspace below 400 feet is becoming more active, more complex, and more operationally important. Drones are no longer only tools for pilots and commercial operators. They are part of public safety, infrastructure protection, emergency response, border security, and national defence.
That shift requires more than individual sensors or standalone systems.
It requires a connected operational picture.

Since 2019, we have been building toward that reality. Through RPAS WILCO, SafeAirspace, DroneDetect24, and M.A.N.T.I.S., AIM Robotics has developed technology that connects flight planning, authorization, detection, airspace intelligence, and response into one ecosystem.
Our focus is clear: help organizations understand what is happening in low-altitude airspace, determine what matters, and respond with confidence.
