Marketplace Questions

Hiring a pilot, costs, certificates and how listings work.

What is the RPAS WILCO drone marketplace?
A directory of drone pilots and drone service companies across Canada, part of RPAS WILCO. Anyone can browse it by service and province, then contact pilots directly for a quote. There are no booking fees and no commission: you agree on the work and the price with the pilot.
How do I hire a drone pilot in Canada?
Filter the directory by service and province, open a few profiles to compare experience and past work, then contact pilots directly for a quote. Before you book, check their Transport Canada certificate, drone registration and insurance. Read the hiring checklist
What drone services can I hire on the Marketplace?
Aerial photography and video, roof and infrastructure inspections, mapping and surveying, construction progress, agriculture and more. Filter the directory by service to see who offers what, and by industry to find pilots who know your field. Read the drone services guide
How much does it cost to hire a drone pilot?
It depends on the job. Pilots usually quote per job, per hour or day, or per unit, such as per acre or per solar panel. A basic real estate photo set often costs $200–$350, while inspections and mapping cost more because of the equipment and processing involved. See typical prices
Can I find a drone pilot in my city?
Yes. Filter the directory by province and service to see pilots who work in your area. Flying in a city usually means controlled airspace near an airport, so check that the pilot holds an Advanced certificate and gets the NAV CANADA authorization the site needs. Read the city-by-city guide
Does the Marketplace list drone service companies or only solo pilots?
Both. The directory lists independent drone pilots and drone service companies across Canada, from one-person operators to teams with several pilots and aircraft. Each sets its own prices, and you contact them directly.
What certificate does a drone pilot need in Canada?
Anyone flying a drone between 250 g and 25 kg needs a Transport Canada pilot certificate. A Basic certificate covers flights away from people and outside controlled airspace. Work in towns, near people or near airports needs an Advanced certificate.
How do clients contact a pilot?
Each profile shows the contact details the pilot chose to share, such as phone, email, website or social links. Browsing needs no account; to see contact details, sign in or sign up with an email code, for free. Booking and payment happen directly between the client and the pilot.
Does RPAS WILCO take a commission?
No. There are no booking fees and no commission. Clients contact you directly, and you agree on the work and the price between you.
Which plans include a Marketplace listing?
Pro, Business and Enterprise. The free Starter plan does not include a listing.
Can I add a service that isn't in the list?
Services come from an approved list so clients can filter reliably. Email us to request a new category and we will review it.
How are pilots ordered in the directory?
The most recently published profiles appear first. The profile strength shown in your dashboard helps you complete your profile but does not change where you appear.
